If people can't handle a BOE base rate of at least 2% then they're too stretched and don't deserve any sympathy. It's about time the powers-that-be started running the economy in a sustainable way, not relying on reckless borrowing/lending/spending to produce a false illusion of "growth".
Oh fook orf! If you had half a brain you could invest elsewhere.
The government is doing exactly the right thing.
    I just pity poor Euroland.
    Hard Brexit now!

That was my thought. Don't they base it on stuff like HD tellys people buy every month instead of things we need in order to live?

Cheer up, if we're in the lost decade there's only 5 more years to go.

Should I play some more black jack before heading home me wonders? Kind of like working in the city me thinks..

Exactly. It's criminal, a mass depression forced on the population to support a failed system.

Reading the international newspapers away from British media is refreshing. People of all over, from my perspective, are getting on with it and moving on including those in Germany etc while the UK keeps attempting to patch a wort that just keeps growing.

        Doomed etc.

If people aren't already on the property gravy train then they should just resign themselves to renting rather than owning. Nobody has a god-given right to own their own house, and if some of the younger "want-it-all-now" generation don't have the patience or the cojones to save up a deposit, they don't deserve any sympathy.

Moving into a new rental apartment in Munich when I return, nearly €10k for 3 month deposit + plus first month + commission.

Tenants in the UK have it sooooo easy and they get a kitchen.

The 'have it all now generation' have been robbed into the belief reward comes with little or no effort.

A double whammy in many cases now as far too many business are now exploiting the vulnerable from banks to landlords.

The UK is fast becoming a terrible place to live, unless you have money.
