Maybe the Russian child owner blew the marketing budget on bubblegum and X-Box games.
The last thing I read about him in local press was that he (allegedly) ordered to put up a sign on top of factory office with words something like "drive TVR to c*m", and he always asked to take off the sign just before his dad was coming (as in walking) to visit factory. It did not suprise me to read something like that - the guy who sold TVR is about to be damned.

There was a rumour when he took over TVR that the new slogan was "Orgasmic Living" but I think it was quickly squashed.

I am pretty sure he was wealthy before and he thought less of money he got (15 mln is not a lot) but that the company will get much needed investment - some serious money, a la Abramovich, but he should have checked references on who he is selling his company to.
Maybe so, but I think he made fatal mistake of selling it to current owner - perhaps he wanted to maximise cash value, but I had the impression that he wanted to get reasonable cash and also secure future of TVR - right now its seems to me that TVR is a goner - no wonder to be honest, the kind of design they make appeal to a small minority of buyers

Alex, who knows really. PW was a true and true TVR fan and he worked hard to improve the brand. He cashed out to Smolensky and rumours were abound that the brand was going to be improved, which it did for the last year or so.
However, news of the redundancies are a little worrying, as is the rumour of the new factory in Blackpool which looks a non-starter, and the small number of new products/week.
You are right - Noble and Lotus appear to be doing OK, busting their restricted output early with no problems.
I reckon it's bad management - expect another buyout and god help us if it's Ford...
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.
However, news of the redundancies are a little worrying,
These are not first redundancies there you know - they did have a fair few last year, giving text-book answer that these are the last blah blah blah, but reality shows that they weren't - sacking 50% of staff is a BIG move, its not like they overhired lots of people during boom year and now had to sack - its serious stuff.
Noble is doing very well, Lotus - not too sure they are great, if their new Esprit is good car then it may help, but it seems that Noble really took initiative - M15 is awesome looking car and fast as hell - 3.5 sec to 60!

If the Noble is "Fast as Hell", what's does that make this...
Admittedly, it does take 14 seconds... ...to reach 200mph!
