So enough for an electric toothbrush then.

It will also be enough for your wife to recharge batteries without you noticing big increase in power bill...

Why earn money when not only does your house go up in value, your roof earns you an income.

In the future, there will be no jobs, our houses will generate capital and income and make us all millionaires! We just need more QE.....

I looked into this as well and worked out it was a 12 year payback and that's assuming they don't cut the feedback tariff again, which they did recently.

The electrician who did the wiring for my new bathroom has his own solar business and told me in his South London drawl '12 years mate? 12 years! You got that wrong mate. Five years payback with mine, make yeh money in five years. I gaurantee it mate. You don't know whatcha you're talking about mate. You got your sums wrong. Five years mate. Five years! Take my word'

Needless to say i still have the 12k in my pocket and bearing in mind i spend 1k a year on leccy and with a diminishing feedback i couldnt work out 5 years.

            'You did it wrong mate'

Also, there may be a backlash against the global warming scam and the greenies, thats a risk that puts me off from creaming the subsidies

I've got bad experience with solar panels.

Back in USSR in big shop that was lucky to have them I saw one and really wanted it.

I did not know why, the cost was super high - 20 rubles which at the time was 10% of my mothers (PhD) monthly salary and there was no concept of pocket money in USSR (well not for us anyway).

So one day I managed to convince my mum to give me money to get it.

She gave me money and I proudly bough it and brought it home.

I wired it up and measured that indeed it was generating small power!!!

I had no idea what else to do with it and bitter regret so much money wasted.

I tried to return it but they refused - concept of returns was unheard of at the time in USSR, it was probably the only solar panel they have ever sold in 1990 in a Siberian city with more snow than sunlight.

<---- give me some rep if you felt sorry about this real life sob story.

Hard to say come to think of it. More than 50 watts is likely, despite their chart. Maybe 100 watts 24 hours a day, as power goes with the cube of wind speed, and wind speeds above the average of 6m/s contribute the most.

Have you met Shaun? He doesn't have use for a toothbrush. Glass of solution by the bed yes. Toothbrush. No.
