Agree you should ask to see the damaged parts, this will usually halt BS. Also you should be given a quote before authorising the work.

It sounds like they are making some work for themselves, probably the next 'fault' will be a blown cylinder head gasket.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I can sympathise a little with the garage having owned a Motorsport business in the past, but as BP says it may turn out to be the CH gasket so I would scrap it, or on one occasion when I had a customer in a similar situation, tell them to keep the car and cancel the bill....

If it was the head gasket then they should have spotted it first. Water from the exhaust (once the car has warmed up), mayonnaise like sludge in the oil filler cap, loss of water from the header tank etc. Not too hard to work out.

We had head gaskets go with none of the above symptoms...

            Kia Sportage goes to £27k...

I think there are others cars I would spend £27k on first, quite a few. In fact, I don't think I would spend £27k on a Kia, I don't think I'd want to spend £12k on a Kia.

You need to factor in 7 years warranty and if you can't even afford to buy a Kia then you should not be posting on contractors forum...

I disagree, I believe that if you're even thinking of buying a KIA you shouldn't be posting on a contractors forum

I've got a KIA, so has at least one other poster here.
When I'm doing ~30k miles per year I'm more bothered about long term reliability than anything else.

Although I should point out that the KIA is not the only car I own
