    Hardware design is transferable to any platform or vendor. Perl scripting is a specific skill. You don't look at a Perl scripting CV for Java role, but once you have a candidate that is regularly designing infrastructure for BIG data centre implementations, Its a fair bet that they can design hardware solutions... you don't need to ask if its HP / DELL or IBM...
    TBH I think you're expecting too much from an agent in terms of how much time they will spend looking at your CV. Even after its been pre screened by whatever CV search software they use, they are still just going to quickly scan it for key words and then either bin it or call you.

    Showing which skills are transferable and which are not is up to you and how you present yourself on your CV. It should not need interpreting.

      No I'm just an old fart that remembers back to the days when I only needed to know two or three names in the whole industry and they knew me. I didn't need to cold call or waist time sending CVs through Jobserve.
