Stick to predicting the weather. That type of ill-informed speculative guesswork would seem to sit tidily with your rather limited grasp of historical trends.

    Too funny Shaunyboy, too funny.

Fact is, you've won nothing, as a team, since I can remember. Nothing. In anything. Nothing in F1 since 73. Over performing? Well, yes, of course, if you're tulipe as a standard form

And, of course, I am still a forecaster. Keep off the meths til after 12 shaunny

Can you remember 1966? Or has too much scrumpy addled your brain since then?

We are a nation of about 5 million. In world terms, there are very few sports (outside fringe ones) that small nations have any realistic chance of winning. It is the way of things and has much less to do with quality than quantity.
If I were you I'd be more concerned at just why it is, that a nation of approaching 50 million has such a piss-poor record at international level compared to similar sized countries.
We have had a Formula 1 World Champion more recently than England's football team have even reached a major final. And that despite hosting the "Best League in the World".
If I were you I'd stick to guessing what way the isobars are going to perform.

Why would I be lookin at isobars?

in 66, didn't England win the world cup?

2008, 2009 world champions in F1 - Also, where are all but 2 teams based?

        2011 #1 cricket test team

        2010 20/20 world champions

2003 RWC champions, finalists in 2007.

        Cycling - too many medalists

You see, maybe we do underperform, maybe you do overperform, but, for all of your over performance, you've still won **** all, and we have. So it's moot to start a discussion on it; come back when you've won something....

He's having a go mind which is commendable, but after 9 months in edinburgh on a gig, I've heard it all before; it blows over after a short while, as there's no real defence once they think about it...

I seem to remember a significant number of medals were won by welsh and scottish peeps working under the banner of team GB.

As for football, England must be the most underachieving team in the modern era when comparing number of players in the world's top flight leagues. It used to be Spain but even they've won both the European Championship (2008) and World Cup (2010) recently.

For England, one win (1966 WC) and three semi-finals (1968 EC, 1990 WC, 1996 EC) in all major tournaments in the last 45 years. Source.

That's a tulipload of tournaments with them coming round every two years, yet not even reached a semi since 1996.

So I don't think the english can take the piss out of the jocks on current form.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

I know, what with all them finals they win, or make, or even qualify for, or even get seeded for qualification.

I'd check the make up of Team GB by the way...

                      Where's the fun in that?

England's national football team underachieves because the league don't take it seriously, never have done and never will do, and the FA are clowns. The same players have won several European trophies at club level so they can't be too bad, and England have tried over a dozen managers of all types with the same results.

The Scots have every right to laugh at that, despite their own side sinking to become permanent also-rans in the third-ranking teams department.
