I used to have a Cosworth Sapphire 4x4 as well - great car but they're all getting a bit long in the tooth now. Had a TVR as well, great cars but unreliable.

I would get a Monaro. Fits the bill perfectly.

I had a Sierra Cosworth (uprated to the gills), but it kept shaking the exhaust off the engine. Engine blew up eventually.
Also a Peugeot 205 GTi (also uprated), and that was great fun. Written off after being rear-ended while stationary at a roundabout.
Also a Subaru Legacy (uprated), was reliable but turbo lag was annoying. Impreza sounds better.
Also had a Alfa Sprint Veloce. Great car, but a rust bucket.

Subaru Impreza Turbo or Monaro are good shouts.

Impreza has plenty of practicality, speed, character, and should be useful in the coming winter snow.

Monaro is a modern Calibra. Same engine as the superb VXR8, which is still on my 'list of cars to own once they drop to around 10k' just for that lovely V8.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Forget about spending the money on a car.

              Learn to fly.

              Just my suggestion.

Agree. Performance cars are mostly pointless these days. All roads are clogged to breaking point, speed cameras everywhere, etc.

Get a microlight or light aircraft, buy a boat, jetski or buy a track car and a trailer.

Are you allowed to take off and land anywhere (a field) or do you have to pay mega$ to use runways? And can you fly abroad with them (e.g. hop across the Channel)?

                    Personally I'd recommend helicopter lessons.
