I'm not a fan of BMW's image but this has to be the best car money can buy for combination of fun VFM and running costs.

The latter versions are under 200 g/kg co2, so £200 road tax and will average over 30mpg, by all accounts bmw had to detune it not to outdo the M3. The 335d probably makes even more sense as is almost as fast but does 40mpg.
