        Yep, its an old US airbase about 120km from Frankfurt and takes nearly 2 hours by bus or car as their is no real motorway near it, nor is there any train station there.

          God that brings back memories. I remember the US Gas stations around Frankfurt and the AFN radio with “German word of the day”.

          Also reminds me of the old shilling and 5p piece used to work instead of the old 1 DM. Used to take a few pounds worth to buy cigarettes, ice cream and food from vending machine; phone and Dr Muller’s etc.

          It was our way of getting war reparations

              We found the 5p thing out on a school trip back in the late 70s. I imagine the local fag machine was full of British coinage after we left.
