We don't have 5000 years of history? That's news to me. What happened - were Britons perhaps dropped on these islands by aliens 4000 years ago?

For a people with 5000 years of history the Chinese have done remarkably little, certainly as compared to what the West achieved in the last 300.

no we don't have 5000 years of history... We spent most of it as tribes with feudal land barons and kings representing the majority of it. We have been invaded by the Romans, Saxons & Normans. Over the same time the Chinese built a long lasting civilisation.

By the time the Romans got to England all we had was a few stones in the west county. Now compare that to Qin and the Terracotta Army or the Great Wall...

The bankers are aware the USD is collapsing and given that all paper money is pegged to the dollar, what's going to happen to world currencies when the collapse does happen? Paper money will probably get replaced with electronic money and whoever controls the banking system controls the world. End of the US as the ruling state?

I think the fuss is about his "greed is good" attitude and his complete disregard for the rest of society as long as he's making money. That's why people think he's a fake, but you don't have to go far in the City to find people just as repulsively greedy as him. Actually, you don't have to go far on this forum...

When we have 5000 years of history, I will agree with you but seeing as democracy arrived with the parliamentarians and votes for land owners after a civil war, and that we only started letting the labour force vote at the turn of the last century. Actual, real democracy for all in this country is quite young.

In fact until the "Representation of the People Act 1928" voting was still limited to male land owning voters or those renting high value properies.
