I actually sort of tripped over my first saleslady in a nightclub, it was a dark nightclub. My next salesman was a neighbour who had a problem with his computer and heard I was a techie and as I fixed it we got to talking.

Finding a good salesbod is really hard and personal intros are best otherwise you'll find yourself ripped.

So you fixed a computer on a visit to a nightclub? And you admit it?

I'm not after anything too flash or ambitious - just need someone to manage the presentation side of it while I sit back in the lab and deliver the product.

I will have plenty of leads to follow as well.

I'd like to be able to use the contractor model - get someone in to do the job on a fixed price plus commission basis - or even commission only, now that would be nice.

But I don't want any slick spivs or barra boys, just someone that a dept. manager wouldn't mind spending a morning talking to. No, not the wife.

I know the proprietor of this company and they do a good job of generating sales leads and getting you meetings with customers.

You will still need a salesperson to go visit the client though and follow up on any leads.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a commission only sales person somewhere. I know a sales outsourcing company specialising in my field (security) who charged £350/day + commission for a sales bod following up telesales leads that were generated by telesales people charged at £200/day.

              Horses for courses really...

              Older and ...well, just older!!

I also fixed a fancy touch sensitive till in a bar in Kyoto whilst entertaining clients, and picked up another client. (Turned out the bars owner was the daughter of a VP to a big Japanese car co.)

No. I think you have to negotiate like a real business.
