      Milan.
Dodgy has explained how the states have a mechanism to equalise as opposed to Europe, with easy labour and capital movements that irons out differences.
Can you tell me 2 US states that are more different than France and Germany?
Lets say Tenessee (hicksville) and California (hippyville). They still have more in common, not least language and institutions than any pair of Euro countries you care to name.
You really ought to stick to changing tapes.

The euro cannot survive as it does now, it will force what are supposed to be sovereign countries into a single nation.

And that's not what independent nations want. There have been hundreds of wars where one lot are fighting for independence, but none as far as I remember where they are fighting to be subsumed by someone else.

And even if the EU became a single European state, how will it work when the nature of the ex-countries economies are so different - for example Greek and Spanish tourism versus German manufacturing? Each wanting different fiscal policies at different times. We have enough problems in the UK between the south-east and Birmingham.

At the end of the day, who is benefitting from the euro?

At the end of the day, who is benefitting from the euro? At the moment not many, except the EU bureacrats and their grand plan, and those who make a big thing of not having to change currency when they go from one country to another.

Keep repeating that, it may eventually penetrate Milans noggin and reach his brain cell.

Any Alaskan can go to New York and get work anywhere he wants and vice versa. Could an average French person go to Germany and contribute as easily?
Could a French person buy a house in Germany as fast as an Alaskan could in NY?
