    Three things.

    1. You didn't understood the post. Being more predictable than most other sports does not mean it is totally predictable.

    2. There will always be close matches that could go either way.

    3. Bookmakers' odds are based on predictability. So value bets, even assuming I knew enough about all the teams, wouldn't be easier to find.

The only thing that's surprised me at this RWC is that Bryce Lawrence is still allowed to referee international matches after a number of abysmal performances including as touch judge, advising the ref to give a yellow card for eye gouging in the 2nd Lions test in South Africa. His performance in the England vs Argentina game was pretty sad, turning a dour game into one of the worst matches I've ever seen by continuously blowing his whistle for tiny issues at the breakdown. Can't say he disadvantaged one team more than the other, but he certainly didn't do the rugby any favours.

I don't know Lawrence's full history, but he did seem to exasperate the England camp, and possibly the Pumas as well for all I know.

Canada was a great call by the way. I've heard their front row described as looking like Creedence Clearwater Revival in a pub fight.

I actually just switched off at half time; couldn't be bothered to keep watching that dross. Lawrence basically just penalised England for attempting to win the ball at the breakdown and hampered Argentina just as much by killing off promising attacking moments. Dreadful to see when a ref ruins a match by doing his Roger Whittaker impression. Can't say either side played very well, but you don't need to make the match even worse the way he did.
