So in your idealised world only the powerful have access to justice?Originally posted by AtW View PostDepends on scale I think - if IRA high jacked 4 UK airplanes and crashed them into UK landmarks killing 3000 people in process and then upon reasonable UK request to extradite specific person in USA who keeps releasing videos asking to attack more UK targets then USA would have accepted full responsibility for it.
Would it have lead to a war? No because USA is much bigger, but I'd expect relations would become a tad cooler.
Only major incidents carry enough weight to be responded to?
There is a lot wrong with the world we live in but you seem to occupy another planet altogether.Just saying like.
where there's chaos, there's cash !
I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!

And what stopped them from having him arrested and moved to the nearest Western Embassy?Originally posted by Churchill View PostThe Taliban repeatedly offered to hand over Bin Laden, these offers were rejected by Bush.
They did not need Bush's agreement for that.Comment

No, the ideal world is that everyone has got access to justice, sadly we live in less than ideal world, the good news is that some of the most powerful counties in the world have got decent justice system and unlike this country they are prepared to go extra mile to serve justice.Originally posted by Arturo Bassick View PostSo in your idealised world only the powerful have access to justice?
Now fook off you idiots, I need to do some work.Comment

"The United States requested the Taliban to shut down all al-Qaeda bases in Afghanistan, open them to inspection and turn over Osama bin Laden. The Taliban refused all these requests. Instead they offered to extradite Osama bin Laden to an Islamic country, for trial under Islamic law, if the United States presented evidence of his guilt.[96] The Taliban had previously refused to extradite bin Laden to the United States, or prosecute him, after he was indicted by the US federal courts for involvement in the 1998 United States embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania.[97] The Taliban deemed eyewitness testimony and satellite phone call recordings entered in the public record in February 2001 during a trial as insufficient grounds to extradite bin Laden for his involvement in the bombings."Originally posted by Churchill View PostWhy should they? There are plenty of references there to actual articles, so don't give any tulip about Wikipedia editing.
Bin Laden could have turned himself over anytime in 10 years after that, whilst not sufficient to be called guilty in a court of law this is sufficient to get a team of SEALs sent to shoot such person in the head.
Now FOOK ARF and let me get on with work.Comment

Whilst I don't agree with Churchill's arguments, I agree with his assertion. However, by the time that the Taliban had come to their senses and were ready to play ball, the game had changed and at that point the US were interested in the bigger picture which was to try and stabilise Afghanistan and in the process remove another Islamic state that is inherently anti-US.
OBL was the reason to go into Afghanistan. It still doesn't mean they didn't think he did it, they knew they'd get him eventually."I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win. What is also tragic about 9/11 is that the USA went on to kill millions of innocent people in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan and of course their own solders were sacrificed. It cost billions of dollars yet the victims of 9/11 struggle to get medical treatment and many are financially broken.
9/11 was a criminal act and any criminal act is normally investigated in the way of who are the perpetrators and who was behind them by firstly asking “Who benefits from the crime.” On this case, that train of thought was not applied."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

You're barking at the moon. Millions? Do you lay the blame at every single insurgent bombing at the feet of the US then do you?Originally posted by Paddy View PostWhat is also tragic about 9/11 is that the USA went on to kill millions of innocent people in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan
That's like saying we Brits were responsible for all those deaths in Manchester, Brighton, Omagh, etc because of our policies in NI.
Please tell me you are not a conspiracy theory nutjob. Do you really not believe that terrorists flew planes into the WTC?Originally posted by Paddy View Post9/11 was a criminal act and any criminal act is normally investigated in the way of who are the perpetrators and who was behind them by firstly asking “Who benefits from the crime.” On this case, that train of thought was not applied."I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win.
