Bat for another day and a half, get a world record.....
That would be interesting.
But the good thing about Flower and Strauss is that they don't speculate like that. Start thinking about such riches and you stop thinking about here and now, and suddenly you're all out for 520. Tomorrow's another day.
Besides, this pitch doesn't look flat enough for a world record. It's starting to take turn and has a bit of variable bounce.
Back out after an early lunch and normal service is resumed.
509-3
Bat till just before Tea, then declare. Put the Indians back in for a short spell, Tea, then back in and bowl them out by Lunch tomorow.
Why declare then? We're not half-way through the test yet.
I'd be surprised if these Indians last much more than a day on that track against England's bowlers.
Keep batting as long as possible, perhaps break a record or two if you last long enough. It's not often England get the chance for this. People have paid money to see cricket, they'll want to see play over the weekend.
