I heard someone on the radio say that during the 1985 riots armed police were given orders from the top to shoot any rioter who had a petrol bomb. The orders were withheld by officers lower down the ranks. I doubt that same order would be given at all today, it would be a PR disaster. I'm not sure why though, what else are they supposed to do?

If rioters are caught with petrol bombs - they will be shot - with rubber bullets - this is going to get VERY NASTY.

And you think they should be patted on the back in this case? I don't mind people fighting for their freedom, however trying to break in publicly into shop like this should warrant very heavy handed action because crime is beyond doubt.
