Facebook has been great for the car business. For the IT contracting malarkey, LinkedIn works for me....my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

Been on it for a couple of days and do really like it so far. Don't like the fact the profiles are either completely open or completely closed though, if the Google Exec's are hiding themselves as reported by El Reg then why should anyone else stay public? I think they need to allow finer levels of privacy rather than the all or none they currently have.
I really like it, can keep Facebook for the people I went to School with and older relatives who are unlikely to want to be added to another social network. But to have friends, clients, staff, family all put into circles so easily is really good. I don't post much on FB due to my mates not wanting to hear about my geek enjoyments and my colleagues not wanting to see pics of my kids etc.
Really like it and worth looking into IMO.
