      I think the footnote would ruin the illusion so I've been ignoring it. However, the next day I received:

            Better still, reply to the texts from his acquaintances with obnoxious and insulting messages, threats, declarations of the intent to grass them up, and so forth. It shouldn't take long for them to do the work for you

                    Just phone the fella back and pretend to be a police officer who 'Ryan' had stolen the phone from and could he stay on the line when you traced his call. That should be the end of that.
