BBC News live coverage; As the Queen arrived at the garden about 200 protesters faced police. Officers in riot gear tried to push away the crowd. The words and shouts turned nasty, with fireworks, cans and bricks being thrown. The protesters were pushed to the end of the street to avoid an glimpse of the Queen.

Chucking bricks at an 85 year old woman visiting a memorial. Will they now go home and tell their families they're freedom fighters?

I think the extremists have just made complete idiots of themselves. So desperate to be heroes, but somehow lacking in the qualities that make people heroes.

I suspect that those Irish war of independence fighters would have spit on the sad little chavs. They're not even worthy of licking dogtulip off Michael Collins' boots.
