        WHS

Or even an RFID chip near the filler tube.

Or a moderately (in fact trivially) smart system that reads the number plate and figures out the fuel type suitable for the car by checking with the DVLA

I'd sue them for not having this in place.

Mind you, SC, I could have warned you in advance - you had all the signs.

I always pump a bit onto the back of my left hand. give it a quick sniff, its easy to tell the difference between diesel and petrol by the smell

I can never smell the difference; it's like wine.

But if you light a drop on your hand (or your tongue - see avatar), the diesel flame is definitely a slightly different shade.

It happens, cost me £140, late night call out, AA would only tow me to the garage, and the £30 of fuel.

They must be laughing at that place, bet they just use all the petrol they drain in their own cars, depending how much diesel was in there too.

Car was drained and seemed fine driving 160 miles home.

They do - the petrol nozzle is thinner
