This is my neck of the woods so here's my 2c:

    Weybridge - nice enough
    Walton-on-Thames - nice enough
    Esher - nice enough
    Hersham - no idea
Kingston-Upon-Thames - Lots of chavs and students
Richmond - Frightfully OK - if you can afford here have you looked in Ham and Petersham?
    Oxshott - no idea
    Stoke D'abermon - no idea
East Molseley - some nice areas
    West Molseley - not sure

I live in Hampton which is by Twickenham (have you looked at Twickenham?) and Teddington (another quite posh area). Hampton is nice, well located and good value for money. You've also got your chavvy areas nearby as well (Hanworth, Feltham, Hounslow) but on the whole you can staeer well away from all those places. Rail links into Waterloo via Clapham Junction/Vauxhall are good, you've got the A316 which turns into the M3, Heathrow is very near as well. If you like rugby then you'll be in heaven...

It's not Surrey though it's Middlesex... hope that's not a problem..

      Stanwell Moor

It's a small and self contained village, about a mile from the M3, and a mile from the M25 - Loads of nearby fields and woods, and lakes (not all reservoirs), as you can see from the satellite photos. There are some nice houses round there, and if it was any leafier you'd need a machete just to walk down the street.

Some might say that being a couple of miles from Heathrow airport was a slight snag. But what those mupps don't realize is that being a mile _perpendicular_ to the runways makes all the difference, as none of the planes goes overhead!

Looks to me like Stanwell Moor is right at the end of the runway. I can't think of a worst place and it has tulipe rail links to London.

What about Epsom? Not far from the A3 and the M25, trains into Waterloo, Victoria and London Bridge.

Hmm, yes, I didn't notice that lower runway, and Harmondsworth (which is definitely a mile north of the northern runway) doesn't have a rail link as far as I can see (but is otherwise relatively nice and rural).

OK, how about Egham ? Again, lots of nearby countryside and a rail link. Also very close to the M25 and M3.

Edit: I know Egham, as I take my PCs there to be fixed by a guy who lives off Egham Hill, and to all appearances it's a nice area.

Loads of students. (I know a couple of people who went to uni there.)

Plus the train line is tulip.

Egham takes 45 minutes on a train to London (waaaaaaaaaay too long) and is near Staines Massive. Nuff said.

I'm sticking with looking at Weybridge/Esher/Walton-on-Thames and Stoke D'Abernon/Oxshott/Claygate areas first of all and see what it looks like in more detail.

The possibility is further out at Guildford due to the very fast train.

I don't like the London/City feel, I like the open leafy Surrey feel, but don't know much about the areas with a good rail link to central London.

If anyones got some experience of living in any of the areas below, or you know they are nice, or really rough and dodgy let me know. These are have a short train journey, frequent trains and large detached houses with big gardens for sale.

                  Weybridge
                  Walton-on-Thames
                  Esher
                  Hersham
                  Kingston-Upon-Thames
                  Richmond
                  Oxshott
                  Stoke D'abermon
                  East Molseley
                  West Molseley

                  etc

Not interested in rough, run down areas like Wandworth due to the grime and crime element and the lack of decent housing.

What's the most upmarket, green, safe areas I've listed above?

                  Cheers,

                  TIA

Have you thought of Windsor ? Nice bits there.

Although I am not sure you are serious about this, since luxury and kebab dont go together.

I used to live in Putney which was also nice. No rough chavs about. Your luxury kebab shops will fit right in the high street.

Petersham and Ham have public transport problems you have to go every where by road and the main road through it has a section which is narrow with speed humps. Nightmare in rush hour.

West Molseley - no train line and the roads are a nightmare due to the lack of train line.

Hersham - opposite of river to Walton on Thames. Looks nice enough.

There is also St Margarets but doesn't look that nice. OK to live in according to the people I've met/know who live and have lived there. However most people live there because they can't afford to live in Twickenham or Richmond.

Hampton takes ages to get to London Waterloo. I have mates who live there who have openly admited that, but then they don't work in London but either close by or down the M3. Also make sure you get a drive/garage as some roads have parking problems.

Oh and Lower Kingswood is lovely. Though you have to drive to the nearest train stations.
