I will give Amy Winehouse credit for getting that sound, it was contrived, yes, but it worked well and the band was top class, the drummer nailed those motown fills.

She had a few songs that are good songs, and well executed. In the old days she would have done a betty boo. She did actually write them as well, she wasn't just some pop tart.

I do not get it either but her band were full stop exceptional, she wanted to do the 50s girl band thing with a 60s motown band and it worked.
