Seriously you don't want your missus spending loads at a more expensive supermarket when you are trying to pay of debts.

Even my mates, one of whom lives in one of those big houses, go to Asda for branded goods. She wasn't happy when her OH told her to but she rather that then not have her holidays.
She does shop at Asda. It's me that goes to Waitrose. The savings aren't as clear cut as you think, it's largely marketing that leads people to believe that. Quite a few things are actually cheaper or the same price, not to mention that their bog standard own brand stuff (e.g. bacon, meat, bread etc) is of a better quality and it's viable to buy that where you might have to buy "premium" stuff in another supermarket to get the same quality.

Edit: actually this isn't true, I used to shop at Waitrose but I now live in Germany and we don't actually have Waitrose here. If anything I would say it's slightly cheaper than the UK.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I'm quite capable of sticking to a budget. The problem is that more than 1/3rd of my income goes on rent and when you factor in bills, flights, compulsory health insurances, 2 accountants and all the other crap the budget comes out as rather finely balanced. Have a week off sick for example and you end up with a hole that you need to fill somehow.

Most of it is. The minimum payments on the 0% parts are still over £300 a month

Yes, he would be starting school a year later here which would give him time to pick up the language properly (he already has a few words from having German friends in the UK & watching German DVDs etc). The international schools are expensive, so he'd probably need to go to a state school.

You obviously can't afford to continue the way you are, there's no shame in coming back home with your tail between your legs like a whipped pup.

Shame doesn't bother me. Having everything go to tulip bothers me.

I find the same with the food supermarket of the "expensive" department store near me. Better quality meat fruit and veg, and the prices are surprisingly competitive. They frequently have special offers and any meat nearing its sell by date goes for half prîce, versus the 10-25% off at the "cheaper" places.

The "cheaper" places will often stiff you on non-headline prices for stuff you don't buy every week. Double the price for toothpaste, for example.

Well, I'm sure you'll agree that you've certainly had your monies worth from the fare denizens here on CUK.

Only you can make the decisions, good luck.

Yes, you've all been very kind. I was expecting to have the piss ripped out of me

everything IS going to tulip ! You need to act soon, but it has to be a joint decision on staying /going.

I've seen it happen and its messy.

Unless you are really loaded or in the category of doing 2-3 year stints in different parts of the world, I'd recommend a German state school over an international one to be honest.
