Ah, a Bunsen burner. This is the weapon of a Pyromaniac kid. Not as clumsy or random as a ruler; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

I was more creative with Bunsens in the Chem lab at school - I would attach them to the taps and see how far I could get the stream of water to go.....

The other was a three-legged table. I wonder who invented them?
