Bit like UK in the 70's feel....

I agree... but it's not all one way.

How much cash can you withdraw from a UK ATM in 24 hours? For the majority of us this is £300. It's been this way for the last 10+ years. That's not enough cash to get a decent pi$hup in london.

With my Deutsche card I can withdraw €1000 in 24 hours.

Don't worry mate - we're off to DE/CH as soon as the current mrs stek has here BC or ILR at least. She's an interpreter in German, worked a year in Hamburg (great!) and Berlin (even better!), I loved it!

I like the quiet Sundays, no shops open a PITA (apart from Kaiserhaus or whatever it was called) but we managed here in the seventies, I love a role in Berlin...

      Jealous!

Hand on heart, Berlin has to be one of the places in europe where the quality of living is superb but largely unexplored.

When I started contracting in the 1980s I could only withdraw something like £100 a week. By default anyway, and I soon got that changed.

I've withdrawn far more than €1000 in 24 hours in CH. Ooh look, shiny new stereo or Apple laptop and the shop doesn't really want to know about a credit card... (that said, a lot of places are pushing credit cards nowadays)

I've come to enjoy the quiet Sundays, though it can be a bummer when the weather is poor.

I love that the shops are closed on Sundays. It forces one to resort to something other than pointless materialism for entertainment.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Agree actually, and it gives a cycle to a week - a beginning and an end. Here in UK it seems like one long drawn out earning and spending eternity...

I agree. Shops should close far more often. I think in the entire year shops are only closed for two days. My wife hates those two days but at least it would force her to be with the family. It would also reduce the government's VAT intake and that is really all what they care about these days.
