I was spending around £8 when I started the job, but £30 - !!!!!!!!!! May well drive like a granny with the trucks tomorrow. Can't wait to get my car back, makes £14 look rather reasonable.
    Stunning scenery?! Its ******* Af-brad-istan?!

    (The irony of this is as of the weekend I am moving to live there lol)

    I paid 130.9p, and £30 a day is my norm, I need a new car

      I think Wilmslow is talking about the scenery from Junctions 21 to 23 on the M62.

        Indeed, but, the drive over the hills is pretty amazing. It feels like I m driving into another country as soon as I get off the M606 though!

              I'm sure I paid 149.7 from a small village garage the other day. I thought it cost a lot to fill the tank but didn't think much more of it.

                It’s about time that they updated the whole 40p/25p a mile thing. At £1.40/l. At the 25p point, over half the amount claimed goes on fuel

                e.g. = car does 50 mpg means that it does 11 mpl (4.54 l /gallon)
                11 miles @ 25p = £2.75
                1l = 1.40
                2.75 - 1.40 = 1.35 to pay for wear and tear/depreciation etc

                So if you do 20k miles per year
                at 40p for 10k you will buy 10000/11 litres of fuel (909) costing £1272 giving you a 'profit' of 4000 -1272 = 2728

                at 25p for the other 10k, it will still cost you £1272 giving you a 'profit' of 2500 - 1272 = 1228

                so your total 'profit' is 2728 + 1228 = £3956 to cover all your other costs!

                if your car only does 45, then this profit drops to 3672
                Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                I preferred version 1!
