Compared to Saddam and Gadaffi, that's trivial. Unless of course she ordered the mass torture and execution of uk nationals that didn't make it in to the papers ?

I'm just saying, a sense of perspective, perhaps.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Indeed she didn't. Tony B Liar, on the other hand, allowed the Americans to carry out 'extraordinary rendition' (English translation; kidnapping) and 'enhanced interrogation' (English translation; torture) on British nationals, and should be dragged in front of the court in the Hague.

Or just get the tulip kicked out of him.

If a job spec mentions "passionate about perl" (or java or whatever), it's a sure sign their IT guys are all uber-geeks, who eat, drink, and sleep this skill, and have probably written publicly available modules or even O'Reilly books on it.

Their code will be stuffed full of all the latest gizmos they've come across, and as a result far harder to work with than it need be, and anyone they deign to interview will be asked all kinds of obscure questions to try and catch them out.

So as soon as I see the word "passionate" now I just say no. Life's too short for all that nonsense.

                Perspective? On here?

Seriously, though you are right of course.

...having a word with company sales departments that insist on ringing a "Gong" for any member of staff that closes a deal, or has David Brent-like bosses who say "Good Morning Winners !" to the staff in the mornings. Truly cringe-inducing.
