I would definitely get an alternative quote and, as others have suggested, post on either a motoring forum or ideally a Jag forum.

You should have asked for a breakdown of costs in terms of hourly labour rate and amount of time for each job which makes comparing alternative quotes easier.

Where are you based and was this a franchised Jag dealer?

If so, I'd look for a reliable local independent Jag specialist who should, I'd guess, be able to cut your bill by at least half.

And there I was Saturday afternoon cursing my poor wee bike as I had to spend about 20 quid in all to fix a nasty problem with my greas .

      Its all relative I suppose.

I had to get my brakes done a while ago and got a hefty quote - can't remember what it was though. I went to Brakes International and bought the parts and then took it to a garage and got them to stick the bits on. It cost me half what I was quoted - paying cash helped also!

The garage will buy their parts and then stick their markup on the same parts you could have bought.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

        I preferred version 1!

If it is in good nick, it would probably worth paying for an LPG conversion, then it would be about as expensive to run as a hot hatch fuel wise.

                LPG is 55p a litre.

Yes, but engines need to use more of it to get same energy, cheaper it ain't.

Actually I think you'll find that LPG is recognised as being less efficient than petrol / diesel. I think I was quoted a 20% difference.

It still does work out cheaper though.

Does that make you both cretins?
