You need to wake up to that fact, times have changed buddy.
It´s very easy to write people off as ´feckless´ but it doesn´t solve any problems. There does need to be some means of helping people to work their way out of poverty; the question is whether the government should take on that role or if initiative from individuals and various organisations like charities and clubs can do it.

I certainly don't like the idea of sitting in my comfortable house in a nice little neighbourhood while knowing that 2 streets away there are kids growing up who don't see any chances in life of achieving the same thing.

What, and then watch as millions of Brits are sent back to the UK and have to start looking for jobs?

That will sort out the deficits
Unfortuantely that's no longer within our control, we sold our sovereignty a long time ago. What were you doing whilst it was happening? Watching Eastenders?

You really are ignorant of the poorer areas of the country. Someone has to create those jobs, it's not an inexhaustible supply.

I bet there aren't many of those round here. Plus I bet you made those numbers up or exaggerated for effect. According to the BBC less than 200 civil servants in the whole country earn more than the PM's £140k. BBC News - Government reveals 172 civil servants earn more than PM
          You make me vomit.

It's about time people in this country took some responsibility for the crap state the country is in.

Very soon we will be moving. We will be moving to an area with very little litter on the streets. Why is there very little litter on the streets? It's not because they have very efficient cleaners, it's because the people there wouldn't dream of throwing their litter on the ground in the first place.

Being poor is no excuse for living like a savage.

It doesn't really matter what you like or don't like the idea of. The ability to do anything about it anymore has now gone.

                While the necessity has increased.

Well that's a load of bollocks in Leeds at least.

Manager of a service is on ~35K, my wife who is a senior manager of in excess of 750 employees across the city is on 50K.

And right now none of the jobs are secure.
