no. the whole idea of these things is to reduce CO2. Then what happens ? the air gets less dense and pretty soon, before you know it, not only is the planet cooling, producing even more ice, but it gets thrown further.
This is called albedo forcing and is covered by PjClarke here here here here here here here here here here here here here here
    and here

there is a consensus on this

It's worse than that. Because the air is then thinner, the wind turbines have to spin faster and with longer arms to generate the same power, so they fling the ice further and faster, too.

I had a link for that but I can't find it now.

It would cost a billion to make the connection but then that is based on the Scottish government that spent 600 million on a 40 million parliament building.

Then we would have to assume that Norway would build dozens of pump storage power stations to conserve that power for no wind days.

My memory of physics from school is not that great but energy degrades over distance even with adjusting the voltage so the fanciful idea that we can just get wind power and store it up on Norway and when the wind stops blowing get the power back down the pipe to sell to England is the fairy tale idea.

Scotland gets 60% of our power from nuclear, let us more than double that with 2 more efficient nuclear power station and then try and reduce energy consumption and power cars electrically. Reduce our need from the middle east oil reserve.

I just hate Scotland at times.

jeez. CO2 is even more evil than anyone ever guessed. what can we do. something must be done. who is to blame ??

          all together....

what do we need GRAPHS, when do we need them NOW

I sat through a presentation from some bloke from the National Grid a few months ago who said that they can't get power stations built because it is now too hard, too expensive and too time-consuming to get the planning permission to put the pylons up. I cannot remember the specific example, but it was in a remote bit of Scotland, where they reckon getting the power lines installed to get the lecky to where the people are will take longer and cost more than the power station.

Windmills are prettier than more useful power stations though.

Scotland's future power outlook is in the land of nonsense. The average idiot on the street thinks we can build a few Hoover Dams when pretty much every high to low water gradient is used for hydro electricity already. IN ten years our nuclear power stations will be spent and with the current admistration arguing for no renewal I will be on a wind up router if I want to talk to you.

My long term view is to get out of the city and build a super insulated house with some kind of self creating energy. A stream that drops about 10 meters over the course of my land that can be used to power a small wheel or a place where I can put up a turbine. Solar power round here would not produce enough to make a digital watch work in winter.

We don't need power stations, off shore them to France.

                  Simples.

How much electricity could be generated per annum by rainfall coming down from the average UK rooftop?

Cutting use is almost certainly the easiest way to reduce problems but nobody wants to do it either. How many threads have we had with people blathering on about 100W lightbulbs...
