Government vets are pouring into Edinburgh after locals reported possible Foot-and-Mouth cases on Saturday. One resident, Mary McTavish, who lives between the Murrayfield and the High Street, was quoted as saying "It's awful, there must be a really bad case, on Saturday night even the fog horn was drowned out by the squealing. It sounded like a whole farm of stuck pigs all hollering at once!"

Two days on the vets are no further along with their enquiries, they have
still yet to find the pig farm on which the outbreak is suspected. They
are looking into a possible hoax as there were numerous unusual events reported in Edinburgh on Saturday - several mystifying reports of water balloons falling from the sky on unsuspecting passers-by and a big increase in the numbers of injuries at the outpatient ward of the hospital - most covered in mud and moaning something about 'getting a kicking from the Scottish boys'.

Other local news: In sport, the England Rugby Team were walloped by Scotland, who put on a magnificent display of running rugby and taught the England boys a good lesson in how the game of Rugby Union should be played.

The Scots played better, but it was a boring game. No flair from either side.

      BTW We still won Culloden.
