Le Touquet

The Westminster is a good hotel. But pricey. The casino across the road from it wasn't a bad spot for an evening. I don't recall it smelly apart from a bit of salty air. Haven't been for about 5 years though.

A few nice restaurants on the seafront etc too. Traffic getting in and out can be completely chaotic, but mainly bank holidays etc.

Hotel Red Fox was cheap and cheerful a few years ago but no idea what it's like now. If you are a golfer I would recommend Le Manoir - handy for golf but a little out of town and too far to stagger back from The Blue Parrot (if it's still there)

To mark the end of my post Christmas healthy binge, I fancy putting the car on the Eurotunnel train & going over to France the 1st weekend of Feb. I've always wanted to go to Le Touquet. Have looked into it, nice hotels, restaurants etc but there is one question the guides don't answer; does it smell bad? If it smells anything like Boulogne, its neighbour up the coast, I'm not going within a million miles of it whether they call it "Paris On Sea" or not. Anyone been?

Didn't smell bad at all. Stayed at the Mercure Grand Hotel, a place best described as having a jaded elegance but all the quirky artwork everywhere made up for where it was a bit rough round the edges.

Didn't find the Blue Parrot, don't reckon it's there any more but did find a great bar called Jean's Cafe. Good range of local and Belgian beers; in fact I fell off the wagon spectacularly Saturday night and put away 3 litres of Leffe Brune. What with the wine I had with my meal, I felt like sh!t the next day. Glad I wasn't taking the ferry home

I've flown to Le Touquet a couple of times from Blackpool.

I wasn't a passenger, which was nice.

Some very nice restaurants indeed.

The last time I stayed at the Holiday Inn. They had a free transfer to the sea front.
