I've flown to Le Touquet a couple of times from Blackpool.

    I wasn't a passenger, which was nice.

    Some very nice restaurants indeed.

The last time I stayed at the Holiday Inn. They had a free transfer to the sea front.

If it smells anything like Boulogne, its neighbour up the coast, I'm not going within a million miles of it whether they call it "Paris On Sea" or not. Anyone been?
Didn't smell bad at all. Stayed at the Mercure Grand Hotel, a place best described as having a jaded elegance but all the quirky artwork everywhere made up for where it was a bit rough round the edges.

Didn't find the Blue Parrot, don't reckon it's there any more but did find a great bar called Jean's Cafe. Good range of local and Belgian beers; in fact I fell off the wagon spectacularly Saturday night and put away 3 litres of Leffe Brune. What with the wine I had with my meal, I felt like sh!t the next day. Glad I wasn't taking the ferry home

The Westminster is a good hotel. But pricey. The casino across the road from it wasn't a bad spot for an evening. I don't recall it smelly apart from a bit of salty air. Haven't been for about 5 years though.

A few nice restaurants on the seafront etc too. Traffic getting in and out can be completely chaotic, but mainly bank holidays etc.

there is a an endurance styled beach race is held every spring at the seaside town of Le Touquet. The event attracts riders and spectators from across Europe. There are approx 1000 vehicles that start...

Worth checking your dates, as you may find thre are a lot of people still in hotels. Also they town may be "recovering" from 50k spectators!

I went there on a school trip when I was a kid, so it was a long time ago.

I do remember a strange smell that lingered over the whole of that part of France but I don't recall that I found it particularly offensive.

Looking at the cost of accomodation there Morocco seem attractive.

Went there as a kid with a school trip. Cobbled streets, quite French. I enjoyed my time there, but then again I was only a kid and my time was spent not only practising my French but smuggling booze, fags and fire crackers (then illegal) back to the UK.

It would be easier and cheaper to put the car on the M40 and head to the annual Cheese Rolling contest at Cooper's Hill in Gloucestershire. Might smell a bit cheesy though.

I can't vouch for Le Touquet, but a couple of years back we went to Berck which is just down the coast. It was windy enough to blow any dodgy smells away.
