IMO experience should count for something and if you know there is better way of doing something then it's your professional duty to educate the client appropriately.
As I said, I've never had a bad response to this, a good demonstration and a calm and professional manner is all that's needed.
Naturally the client may give some resistance, usually from the people responsible for creating what you're trying to improve but allowing the right people on board and giving them some sense of ownership of what you're trying to achieve overcomes this resistance.
The client is never hiring you to improve, they just want you to implement what a perms view of how code should work.

          FTFY

Speak for yourself, don't assume what I get hired for!

I offer and have my opinions taken. Still bored with it.

How about getting an MBA and start going for perm positions where you do get to set business strategy?

Yep, see what you did there. Very clever

Have you thought about taking up cage fighting?

Actually. Yes I was thinking about it.

I can apply for perm positions again, as I was setting strategy previously. But I do fancy an additional challenge. Always fancied the idea of some extra study.

Can this thread now be locked as a shining example for the future forum members?

It managed to stay on topic with only minor piss taking and reached a sensible conclusion with no need for further discussion after only 27 replies.
