Christmas nostaliga
When I was a lad me and an uncle used to play Eastern Front (1941) on my Atari at Christmas, in the back room away from all the earache of gabbing relatives and crap TV.
I never did beat the computer (who played the ruskies), though I suppose that makes it realistic as the krauts never won either.
Is there any comparable strategy game on the PC from modern times? Seems they're all shoot em ups or graphic driven, or too hard to get into.Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
Feist - I Feel It All
Feist - The Bad In Each Other (Later With Jools Holland)Comment

The early Grand Theft Auto games (in 2d) were fun. Some good mini missions too, like driving the remote control car packed with explosives under some other vehicle.
Enjoyed Theme Park a lot. You could do things like over salt the chips so the customers puked up everywhere.
The later Rollercoaster Tycoon series never seemed to capture that same fun at the fair atmosphere.
In fact Bullfrog did some superb games. Syndicate being my all time favourite out of theirs. About time they did a modern version.
Other old PC games I loved:
Lemmings
Battle Chess
Wolfenstein 3D
Duke Nukem 3D
Doom / Doom II
Command and Conquer
Diablo / Diablo II
Their Finest Hour (Lucasarts, another good outfit that produced great games)
Links (golf)
Silent Service
X-Wing / Tie Fighter
Half-Life
[Makes me want to set up my own working emulator now. Modern games are crap in comparison. About time they brought back the classics but with modern graphics and sound as I fear the above won't have aged well.

This outfit did some great games in the late 80s and early 90s.
Z being my favourite. Loved the humour in the cut scenes.Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
