Yep, back in my drinking days it was exactly that. I tried to keep a drinks cabinet a few times and a wine rack several times, but the bottles never got dusty .... in fact, if they were there more than a few days I'd be surprised.

Loads of vodka in custom bottles from various cruise ships, QE2, Queen Mary, Oceania etc. Also loads of rum from various Caribbean islands, mostly Barbados.

We don't do spirits, must tell mother one day.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Somebody once told me that was the difference between working class and middle class, being able to keep drink in the house for more than a day.

We were bequeathed some random liquors the wife's grandparents had collected over their decades of cruises around the world. Most got chucked out but one we've kept. Don't know what it is or where it's from, vaguely fruit tasting and the same colour they dye meths, if not even more vibrant. Looks like something out of Star Trek.

May well be decades old but hasn't killed anyone yet, getting dinner guests to try it has become a bit of a ritual

Seriously, that stuff will be truly awful. There's a good reason nobody has bothered opening it.

However, I'll drink anything, so if you PM me your address I'll send you a litre bottle of Teachers or Bells as a swopsie. I'll even refund the postage for you.

Back of my drinks cabinet? Spiders.

Because having a bored wifey lounging about with no work to do results in the gin disappearing by lunchtime?

I've never seen the point in buying a drinks cabinet

It's because stealing them is illegal.

Drink purchased (a cargo), usually consisted of cans of beer by the dozen plus at least one bottle of spirits traditionally whisky and maybe a bottle of vodka for the women. The session ended when all the booze was consumed or the off license was shut / money run out.

They may taste the same but one of them makes your scrotum enormous after a few days.
