      Oh woe is me. Got the darned Personal Development Review to look forward to in the new year. Deep joy.

      Car - well, it drives. But the replaced door not sorted correctly, the window not fitted correct and speaker vibrating like anything. Going back to the aggressive muppets for a third time, but going to try to negotiate main dealer from the insurance firm.....

      Missus. Oh, don't depress me any more. She was blaiming the cat for her constant nocturnal fidgeting which was keeping me awake, wanted nooky while I was trying to sleep, makes sure I stay awake by hissing 'You had better not be asleep'. Very nice of her to keep me up all night to write off the Sunday. Told her the obvious fact that it is the cat's territory - she goes all bunny on me again claiming I was seeing her second class to the cat. Which I think is actually true! Meanwhile I am dragging myself in to dose up on Day Nurse and she is not happy I am not seeing her tonight, despite a meeting with a dentist drill at 3pm.

      Living the permie dream......

        Previous client co finally managed to hire a permie by persuading a contractor to turn to the dark side.

        His wife was due their first child in a few months, and he was concerned about the HR policy of no paternal paid leave in your first 6 months.

        His soon to be boss, said no problem, we'll take care of it, you will be a valued employee, this is a great place etc etc - so he takes the job.

        Baby arrives and sure enough, HR say nope, you'll have to take any time off as holiday, and the boss washes his hands of it "What HR says goes, nothing I can do".

        Moral of the story - Permie-dom sucks ass!

            Nah, he can get them back by getting his doctor to sign him off for stress for a few weeks

              Perhaps, but on the flip side, as a contractor he wouldn't have got any paternal leave anyway.

              Luckily, my wife was the company secretary when the sprog came, and she was entitled to full maternity pay (recoverable from HMG of course!!)
