I looked up Jesus. He's some Jewish bloke who lived about 2000years ago. I can't see any credible evidence that he was supernatural.Originally posted by contractor79 View PostI answered you - I said go look up JESUS.
Now you answer me- tell us the real reasons you reject God. Did a religious person upset you? Do you feel you've been given a poor hand in life? Is your thing a bit small? Don't girls like you?
The OP has stated this should be a non-slanging thread. Please don't post if you can't debate things rationally.Hard Brexit now!

You have to accept that if you are right, and it is a delusion, then some of the cleverest people that have walked the planet have suffered from it. There is no arguing against it, no disproving it.Originally posted by sasguru View PostI am respecting that. Sadly I can't say the same about contractor79

Of course you want to hide behind pseudo-rational arguments rather than confront the real reason why you reject God. I understand that. You don't fool me.Originally posted by sasguru View PostI looked up Jesus. He's some Jewish bloke who lived about 2000years ago. I can't see any credible evidence that he was supernatural.

This is about the best argument a religious person can give sadly, that's why they resort to insults. Notice the lack of evidence, and diverting techniques.Originally posted by contractor79 View PostOf course you want to hide behind pseudo-rational arguments rather than confront the real reason why you reject God. Its the natural psychological response to being challenged over your innermost beliefs, the very core of your being.Originally posted by kandr View PostThis is about the best argument a religious person can give sadly, that's why they resort to insults. Imagine living your life based on a lie - it just can't be possible and so the brain invents amazing justifications for the twaddle it believes in.
Strong religious belief is a mental illness that the human species is particular prone to - some evolutionary scientists are just beginning to understand how it used to confer advantage to the species when it was in hunter-gatherer mode, but possibly does not do so any more.Hard Brexit now!

I assume this is just a figure of speech.Originally posted by sasguru View PostPerhaps you have some evidence for the existence of a supernatural entity?
You see my working hypothesis is that there is no supernatural entity because I have seen no evidence for one, but of course if some kind soul could point me to some evidence, I would definitely change my mind.
I hope you also believe there is no soul. As there has never been any scientific evidence for it.
I agree with you both in regards to religion and "soul"."Condoms should come with a free pack of earplugs."Comment

Where are the ghost believers? Last time a ghost thread came up I was left with the impression that a fair proportion of CUK believed in ghosts.Comment

Cut 'n' pasted from a Christian blog:
When it comes to creationism, all I need is to see creation. That's the solid observable and undeniable evidence for me.
If you want to call creation "nature," and believe that nature made itself, go ahead. But don't ask me to believe something so obviously unscientific and foolish.Comment
