I think Celtic are wrong in this one, Referees will make mistakes from time to time, and over a season they balance out. They can't spit the dummy every decision that goes against them. I reckon this will end in Celtic being docked points.

"No-one who has admitted to lying to our manager over important decisions should remain in post," Reid said. "He (McDonald] should go and if he didn't resign, then he should have been removed from post. There cannot be integrity in a system that allows a referee to lie and, allegedly, to try to get others to lie about a crucial decision affecting a game. There cannot be a system that permits that and retains integrity. So we need a fundamental review but there's no question that the referee should either be removed, or remove himself."Comment

John Reid of course is impartial and his word is law! I think Celtic are making a mountain out of a molehill. It's getting embarrassing they should do their talking on the pitch.Originally posted by minestrone View PostIt has went past the decisions...Comment

Aye, so our refs should be allowed to reverse a penalty decision then make up a story between them to tell our manager?Originally posted by kandr View PostJohn Reid of course is impartial and his word is law! For what it's worth, I agree with you on that oneOriginally posted by shaunbhoy View PostYou have a point. I am all for that. But I guarantee you there would be one half of the Old Firm moaning more than the other.

Having watched my own team get the tulip end of the stick against the Huns from as far back as '76 SC Semi at hampden, by a referee who was later suspended for taking bribes, to a disallowed goal last season when we were 1-0 up on them, where the linesman actually said 'the boy appeared there so quick I thought he must have been offside', I'm quite sure their loss would be the greatest with impartial referees.
Look at their performances in the champions league when they were meant to be a 'decent' team with Hately, Gazza et al. How many players did they have sent off during champions league games ? More than they would have sent off in a decade of SPL games. These 'fussy' foreign refs were pulling them up on all sorts of minor things, like Hately leading every jump with an elbow, minor holding people down in the penalty box and 'normal' little two footed tackles that they would get away with in the SPL.
Bring on the foreign refs, but you would have to ensure that they came from countries where the majority is neither catholic or protestant
Do UEFA have many jewish or muslim refs on their books ?
Could just imagine the Scottish fans' reaction to that
"He's wit ? A jew ?? Aye, but is he a proddy jew or a cafflik jew ?"When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....Comment

He went to the linesman who had a better view, and made the decision based on that, if it happened to Rangers I'm sure you would be agreeing with me. Take off the green tinted spectacles. he admitted lying, the SFA dealt with it, end of story.Originally posted by minestrone View PostAye, so our refs should be allowed to reverse a penalty decision then make up a story between them to tell our manager?

Err no he didn't. KUATB!!!
FTFYOriginally posted by kandr View Posthe admitted lying, the SFA essentially did nothing, end of story.

You see here's the thing. Most non Old Firm fans believe that Celtic and Rangers get more than their fair share of decisions. I would not tend to disagree with that. But what you have to ask yourself is this...............Why would Celtic risk jeopardising that position, and be arguing for a more level playing field for all? And why indeed are all the other clubs not more vociferously jumping on this bandwagon if they feel that they are perenially disadvantaged? Have they simply given up struggling against the injustice of it all? Fortunately, Mr Reid does not appear to be of a mind to give up the struggle.
But let us not interrupt our enemy whilst he is busy making a huge mistake.

All I have to say is:
Celtic's paranoia over refereeing is typical of Old Firm rivalry | Ewan Murray | Football | guardian.co.uk
Paranoia, pure and simple. Don't forget, only one club makes a hoohaa about a referee's religion. All the bile aimed at Mike McCurry because he was a baptist minister, yet you see Willie Collum officiate the last OF match and not a single word from Rangers. (Willie Collum is an RE teacher at a Catholic school). All Scottish tournaments from 1890 to 2002. Red cards – Celtic 575, Rangers 622. Yellow cards – Celtic 1522, Rangers 1777. Penalties for Celtic – 1027, for Rangers 895. Penalties against Celtic – 328, penalties against Rangers 459
He’s one of The Best, so why on earth is the Reverend getting so much stick? | Scotland - Times Online
Let's get it right, it's one club who are doing all the bitching here. Cheated, never defeated the Glasgow Celtic way. There cannot have been many referees across Britain on Sunday who spent the morning baptising eight people in a Baptist church and then went out in the afternoon to officiate in a football match beamed live on TV around the world. That, however, was the fate of the Reverend Mike McCurry at Rugby Park, and look at the bother it got him into.
McCurry was abused relentlessly – and crassly – by a choir of Celtic fans who, on their travels around Scottish football grounds, have come to perfect one or two unsavoury chants in their repertoire. McCurry, however, appears to come in for particular stick, to the point where even Jim Jefferies and Gordon Strachan both wondered on Sunday if it affected his performance during Celtic’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock.
If it did, the effect was unusual. Among the many absurdities of the Celtic travelling support trying to undermine McCurry was that, over the course of Sunday’s 90 minutes, he awarded their team two penalties – each justified – and did not bat an eyelid while so doing.
This is what they've all been moaning about by the way, because McCurry chose 'Simply the Best' as a happy clappy Sunday school song he must be clearly Anti-Celtic or what they really mean, Anti-Catholic.
