The Das Boot soundtrack is available from the iTunes Store, though not the film itself, sadly.
Apart from the opening and closing titles, Colditz had no incidental music at all. This sounds odd now, but actually you don't miss it. The absence of music just seems to enhance the tension and the drama.
Yes, agreed with the lack of soundtrack on Colditz, added to the atmosphere.
I've got Das Boot in the original German on DVD (with English subtitles), the translation isn't up to par but so, so good.
A friend of mine contributed 10 seconds of music to the soundtrack (a horse and carriage going over a bridge), he got 10k for that - a thousand pounds a second, how's that for a rate?
The main theme was composed by another friend of mine and no idea what he got for that gig
