My impression from the Irish people I know is that it's a minority that continue whining. Trouble is, small minds are usually connected to large mouths and that's what makes bigotry noisy.

At the end of the day mistakes have been made in the past and many have moved on from that. I am growing tired of the old adage of Ireland being anti English.

Financial mistakes are omnipresent and the Irish economy will need help no matter where that comes from.

I would suggest that it's very much alive and well on both sides of the border. It is just hidden below the surface most of the time.

Ironically, I think the only time Ireland was 'united' under a single ruling entity was under the British. Just an observation and I recommend that it's never mentioned in conversation.
