I can't believe I have just read a thread about men discussing the merits of different bags.

It used to be that a laptop was a tool of the trade, now in most cases it's carried by a tool in the trade.

Does anyone know of a decent wheeled bag that will carry a 17" laptop as well as books and other stuff. I have looked at the suitcase types but they don't have a specific pocket for the laptop. Guess I am moving out of the laptop market and in to the luggage market so will have to make do. Just wondered if anyone had seen anything. Maybe a little larger than this?

          Chortle

That guard's bag looks a bit brutal, with all those hard edges. But I'm quite tempted if it's one of the few that holds 17" lappies.

I wonder if any of the Crumplers are large enough.

I have a cheesy disco in custom colours. Not sure if they still do build to order.

I'm fed up with lugging around my laptop in a backpack style bag - a Frenchman laughed at me yesterday.

I need to get something more fashionable. Any suggestions on a decent looking (functional) laptop bag? I've had a look previously at the Tumi range and they look an option.

                Recommendations please!
After giving it a bit of further thought, shouldn't the question be 'carry a laptop and look professional'? I have a Dunhill bag that gets used for interviews and anytime I've not got a laptop with me. The laptop gets carted about in the guards' bag because it is big enough for my 17" Dell (I have a cover for the laptop to ensure it has a little extra protection), it's hard wearing, it's not a rucksack and I am over 30.

and if I don't need a laptop then my "day to day" bag is the Cyclus Plaza bag made of recycled bike tyres and inner tube liner. It's strong sturdy, eco-friendly and looks different

Can you not just keep the old laptop bag and happy slap the Frenchman?
