The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.” -

Doogie, been have been through this before, you are not in the big league, stop trying to pretend you are.
I probably place several thousands a year on bets and placed about 5 grand over the World Cup this year. I think I named all, or most of my bets, on threads during that period before kick off. I make a shed load from gambling.
A 500 quid bet is nowt to me. I have spoken to incognito by PM and the bet is now 50 quid and the winnings go to chaaarity.Comment

I just see the bloke for what he is, a snake oil salesman who promised daft people in housing schemes that by the time the tax man got to them he would have 'ripped down to tory goverment' and charges would be dropped. He went to prison and many stupid people who got whipped up by his fervour also got sent down, he told them to spend the money and they did and when they could not pay it was the jail.
I still don't understand why you care, you don't ever come across as a bleeding heart. The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

I do not like seeing poor people manipulated for political ends, I would never be described as a bleeding heart but I think people should always be given the chance to improve and better, he encouraged people to go to prison. If he really wanted to support the people of that area he would have been trying to get the unmotivated motivated, the jobless jobs, the junkies clean.
Instead he takes on the news of the world claiming he never shagged around when we all know he shagged around. Stupid arse. IF he was the man of the people he could have fought for the people rather than spending our hard graft on 12 weeks of trial on an ego trip. I hope he gets 4.Comment

Prison time is supposed to keep dangerous people off the streets, or as a last resort when offenders refuse other forms of punishment.
No - 4 years of weekend community service would be far better.
No point giving him a fine - the NotW will shortly bankrupt him anyway.Comment

HE never got the money and was smart enough to move the house into his wife's name about 5 years ago. Financially he is untouchable.
His wife clearly has Stockholm syndrome, 25 people turned up and said he was pumping around and she still sat there standing by her man. I really felt sorry for her that she had to go through that.
I'm sure the NOTW will be pulling out massive 'revelations' on Boxing Day.Comment
