Current client has 5 staff canteens, one with garden one with roof terrace and BBQ in the summer.

I remember being behind some chap in the canteen queue at a clients that Accenture had shipped over from Manilla. On enquiring "what is this please" of the woman behind the counter came the answer "Toad in the Hole" whereupon he visibly went a grey green colour and slunk off in the direction of the vegetarian counter. Of course the person behind him in the queue wasted no time in loudly saying "I'll have the Toad please. Are they FRESH today?"

I also remember seeing someone who had been shipped over from god knows where putting custard on his battered fish. I don't know if the person who was 'knowledge transferring' to him was exacting some payback or if it was indeed intentional. Made me feel a bit though.

The microwave oven is a disgusting apparatus that, together with TV dinners, could be held responsible for many of society's ills, from the nihilist depravity of 'reality TV' to family breakdown and the rise of chavdom.

Yep. I think I went for steak that day. I never graced that canteen again, and a top notch Shwerma restaurant nearby got my trade thereafter.

Indeed. Although I am not a strong advocate of microwave ovens, pinning the current failure of society on them seems a bit of a stretch! However the advent of microwave chips is another matter! Such a heinous crime surely cannot go unpunished forever?

Well I wouldn't just blame microwave ovens on their own. I just see them as a symbol of a nihilist anti-culture. Food has a very important social function and should be prepared with care and eaten with pleasure imnvho.

Microwave ovens have done to food what Stock Aitken and Waterman tried to do to music.

Belgian client - horse steaks.

Dandelion salad is the one that gets me. I guess any old edible weed can go on a plate and be called "salad".
