Off the top of my head:
    a) Beef Stew (with dumplings)
    b) Sausage Mash and gravy
    c) A decent curry
    d) Jambalaya

Never tried it, had to Google it but sure going to have a go.

Delia describes it as British but I suspect more English hence no examples anywhere up here.

        Hungarian Ghoulash. Hot & Spicy
What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

Never realised it wasn't commonplace in Scotland! There again, Haggis Neeps and Tatties are a fine substitute

Nearly the same anyway. Definitely having gravy with the t&H.

Any kind of stew works, needs dumplings though.

Try lamb cubed and slow cooked in red wine with paprika, garlic, onion and seasoned to taste.

I do like haggis, neeps & tatties but stovies is a good alternative.

Fair enough - I think I'll be having a doner kebab tonight though

Nothing wrong with a good kebab, and I've recently found good places in Dalston and Pimlico. But I always find home cooking trumps the best take-aways, or even restaurants. Not dined in the likes of the Fat Duck though, I wonder how good it really is?
