Could put that on the bookshelf next to 'when fossil fuels run out', 'when North Sea oil runs out' and 'when the UK has to sell something to buy her energy needs'.

Its worse than that - the majority of the nuclear fleet reach the end of their planned life around that time as well. We are looking at nearly 50% generation gap with current plans from 2015 onwards.

There are other plans to reduce this gap that does nor rely on poxy windmills, but we don't have enough forests to feed them for long.

Socialists can hardly wait, and nor presumably can the SNP.

There's nothing that turns on lefties as much as the chance to start rationing something, and really feel in control.

Weren't the current crop of nukes meant to have reached the end of their operational life by now as well?

Don't suppose there would be any political pressure on the Inspectorate to extend their life span
