                There doesn't need to be a benefit - I don't particularly care if there is or there isn't, because that's not what I'm arguing. Population growth will continue to occur naturally whether we like it or not.

                I'm arguing that it's completely possible to sustain a much greater population with the resources at our disposal if we utilise them properly.
                You won't be alerting anyone to anything with a mouthful of mixed seeds.

                    We'd better be quick about it, because many of these advances in agriculture which I think you mention depend on oil, and that's being used at exponentially increasing (compounding a few % a year) rates.
