Sounds impressive until you realise that this is driven by construction. In other words, we haven't sold more to the rest of the world and earned some extra money - it's just some guys have built some buildings - somehow this counts as growth.

Now apparently we "grew" from 1993 to 2007.
Yet before that period of "growth" dentistry and education were free. After this period of "growth", suddenly we couldn't afford free dentistry or education or armed forces.

Somehow I'm feeling the current definition of growth is somehow a pile of bollux.
Public spending increases are included in growth figures. So through the 2000s the latter were artificially high, and over the next few years they will be likewise misleadingly low.

Does it contain transport costs and if not why not since this affects most people and train and tube fares always go up by "more than the rate of inflation"

That's never made sense to me.

Now if they were included in inflation they couldn't go up by more than the rate of inflation. Its positively Orwellian doublspeak, I tell you.
      Hard Brexit now!

You won't be alerting anyone to anything with a mouthful of mixed seeds.

Yes, adjusted by official rate of inflation, 3% or something?

Spod, you have a terrible habbit of never contributing to a thread, you tend to drop in to the second page of a topic and make a hash of trying to slag off a poster.

Sasguru does not understand something that is well documented.

Therefore he is a clueless gimp.

What don't you understand about that?

What I do understand is that your mental midget mind cannot fathom the topic and you are reduced to petty insults.

We know you are as thick as a brush, we know that you never got a degree, you do not have to throw what we know in front of us at every opportunity you thick moron.

You seem to spend a lot of time hilighting the fact that I have never aquired a degree. What you fail to ask is "Have you ever studied for a degree?".

The answer if you're interested is "No, I have never studied for a degree.". Now, let's follow that up with "Would you like to study for a degree?" Yes, I would when time and finances permit me to do so without detriment to my family and other commitments.

Now, I sincerely hope that we've put that issue to bed once and for all but somehow I have my doubts.
