They will soon be heading over here and the UK to become contractors when they are skilled up in the product. Then the rates will head south. I reckon i've got another year or two then i'm out of this industry.
Find something IT related the Bob's can't do and stick to it.

The .Netters are prolly fooked, but business will always need PMs, system analysts, data architects etc

There will undoubtedly be a lull of around 18 months until the latest tranche of managers realise their projects just hit the buffers, but as per the cycle those that were so harshly tossed aside will soon become the creme de la menthe

This is largely accepted at SY01 towers

I was mulling over moving into a BA role.

Either that or do my own software. A few startups are around at the minute that I could get involved with.

Just need a few more years at this rate, if I can possibly do it.

ClientCo (one of the biggest companies in UK) has BOBs everywhere, whole floors of them. Legions more offshore and through service providers like IBM, HP etc etc.

I agree what others have said, yes they're 1/4 the price, but they work at 1/10th the speed, and the end product is often terrible anyway. This seems to be true for all levels of work load and technical expertise, whether it's to develop a whole new application or just to generate a database extract

Hacking up in the toilets is common, personal hygiene is poor (extremely poor on some)

EU trade deal threatens to overturn Coalition

A planned EU "free trade agreement" with India, expected to be signed in December, will give skilled Indian IT workers, engineers and managers the ability to work in Europe. In return under the agreement European companies will gain access to India's domestic market.
And the UK Govt are in favour because it will be good for business. Sell out your own people for profits for your friends: business as usual for the Nasty Party.

This thread needed some racism to spice it up, well done for stepping up

As I always say, your company should spend more time finding the good offshore developers - they do exist. The problem is they aren't as cheap, the top-notch guys anyhow.

Although what this guy is saying about the industry and the rocketing costs is slightly reassuring

Then why off-shore the work at all?

How many more IT Bobs can come here anyway? Didn't Labour do a thorough job of stuffing us to the gunnels with as many Bobs as humanly possible?
