Or if you is too fick for the army, what about prison?
A common misconception that everyone in the Army is "fick". My daughters' friend has joined up from grammar school (with good A levels) to take her medical degree and combine it with real experience 'in the field'.

Isn't one of society's problems now that the army has little use for 'fick' people?
They used to be able to send them to the colonies to shoot fuzzy-wuzzies or beat up the Irish, but since we've stopped doing that kind of thing (or at least cut down a bit), the army needs more literate people who can learn to use complex equipment.
Hence, no colonial jobs for working class chavs and upper class thickos.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

In a nutshell. The age of the great unwashed cannon-fodder masses is over.
I wonder how long will the free higher education in Scotland last if fees increase in England & Wales #2
#1 If SY01's kids are 11/12 then he could move now, and benefit from the free fees in future years
#2 Actually this could be a great selling point for Scotland, and could mean it attracts aspirational parents who want a future for their kids. It may even attract mobile (relatively) high earners, who resent having to fork out 50k for their kids education when it's nearly free elsewhere. Cities and towns that host universities will see an increased demand for student accommodation. I suspect council tax will get ever higher in Scotland though!
Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on Twitter

But they would have to endure the racism endemic in Scotland and fear for their childrens safety
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Me (a mere sasenach (sp?)) went to uni in Scotland. The Scottish students were ok but the regular locals were often quite harsh. And by harsh I mean wanting to "kick-ma-heid-in" as I have an English accent.
